Austin Woman Magazine threw their 9th Anniversary Party in style. True to form, they made everyone feel like family at their networking vendor reception and featured a panel of local Super Stars with a tasty lunch at The Westin Hotel before unleashing the slightly tipsy masses into Macy’s and Neiman Marcus for power shopping.
The panel is always my favorite part. Judy Maggio of KEYE TV moderated the Q & A with AW’s “Style Mavens” who shared their unscripted insights and experiences with the audience. Here are quotes from our panelists that were met with applause:
“I want women to start rejecting the idea that growing old is bad.” — Musician Kathy Valentine (The Go-Go’s and The Bluebonnets) on what she wants for women in the next decade.
“It’s so important as mothers not to lose our identities. Remember who you were before you had children” — Carla McDonald, CEO of Dynabrand PR Firm in discussing female influences and lessons they taught.
“The hard economy is spurring a burst of creativity.” —Michelle Valles, Co-host of Austin Live, Author, Actress on trends she predicts for the next decade.
“I turn on Toddlers & Tiaras!” — Irene Williams, CEO of 21st Century Technologies on how she gives herself a mental break by indulging in her no-longer secret guilty pleasure: trash TV.
